It is located in the town of Macultepec, on the outskirts of Villahermosa, in the State of Tabasco, Mexico. The treatment capacity is 125 lps (2.85 million gpd). This plant has become a model for large-scale waste water treatment based on constructed wetlands. TPA works closely with Water for Humans, Natural Systems International and Biohabitats. TPA is directed by Dr. Firdaus Jhabvala, who holds two patents on waste water treatment with constructed wetlands and has worked on many projects for water, in general, and waste water treatment, in particular, throughout Mexico.
